Jun 1, 2009, 10:30 am

Dear Slot Tech International Reader,

This month we have taken the liberty of going digital - I hope you enjoy the convenience of having your own electronic copy of the magazine - please feel free to share it around with other workmates and colleagues in the slot machine industry.

You can download a hi-res or a low-res version from the Slot Tech server by simply clicking on http://slot-tech.com/may09/

This month we feature a ton of information on the IGT product line from our various contributors - all of which will be guaranteed to make your workshop a happier and more efficient place! In addition, check out the other feature article on lead-free soldering - something on which every self-respecting tech will want to get themselves up to date...

We are working on a full programme of TechFest events currently, and are close to finalizing details for TechFest Africa and TechFest Europe - both to take place in September 2009. Full details and enrollment forms will be included in the June issue of Slot Tech international magazine, and will be added to the website at www.slot-tech.co.uk

Once again, we hope you enjoy the latest issue - if you have articles for inclusion for our next issue, please email them to editor@slot-tech.co.uk

3M Touch Systems Release Command Strips for TFT LCDs
May 5, 2009, 3:13 pm
3M Touch Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the 3M Company and a leading innovator and manufacturer of touch technology, announces today the availability of Command Strips for Touch Sensors, a new and unique method for removing and integrating touch sensors. Developed specifically for the 3M MicroTouch System SCT3250EX (formerly the 3M MicroTouch ClearTek II touch system) and based on Command’s “peel and stick” adhesive and patented “stretch release” technology, 3M Touch Systems now offers casino operators a cost-effective and time-saving alternative to established time-consuming touch display repairs

Replacing a damaged touch sensor or a working sensor on a broken LCD display can take experienced slot technicians nearly an hour. Using Command Strips for Touch Sensors, touch sensors can be removed in seconds by merely pulling the exposed tabs. And, by using the Command peel and stick strips, a touch sensor can be quickly integrated in minutes, especially since Command’s stretch release technology leaves no difficult-to-remove adhesive residue to clean.

Casinos adopting this mounting method can reduce their future touch sensor replacement time and help return repaired games to the casino floor more quickly.

“For more than 25 years 3M Touch Systems has been working with casinos to provide reliable and robust touch technology to keep their gaming machines up and running. Now, by leveraging this well-known Command Strips product, we’re able to help operators improve the cost and efficiency of their gaming machine maintenance,” says Scott Hagermoser, gaming business manager, 3M Touch Systems.

Command Strips for Touch Sensors are available from these 3M authorized distributors: Eurocoin Ltd (Europe), JCM Global (North America) and the Suzo-Happ Group (North America). In Asia-Pacific region, contact local 3M representatives.

All Eyes On London As 2009 Expo Season Kicks Off!
Jan 23, 2009, 11:04 pm
A Happy New Year to all! The holiday season is now almost a distant memory as the gaming industry descends on London this week as Europe's largest trade show - the IGE - opens at Earls Court on Tuesday 27th January.

The International Gaming Exhibition [the rebranded former ICE Show] promises to deliver the world's leading gaming technology for casinos, for online gaming and for the  lower stakes and prize AWP sector - all under one vast roof. Certainly the organisers have staked all on the event being a success in these gloomy economic days, and are shrugging off the emergence of a rival amusement sector show that will open opposite the IGE venue.
However, regardless of the economics and politics surrounding the world of gaming trade shows, one thing is for sure.....there is going to be a host of new technology on display that sooner or later will end up on your gaming floor!

Slot Tech International plans to bring its readers full coverage of the latest slot machine trends, gizmos, gadgets and god-sends from IGE in an expanded February 2009 issue. The magazine is scheduled to print & ship w/c 9th February to allow us time to compose this show technology report - so please bear with us while we pull the issue together.

Planning to visit IGE? You can pre-register here online to get your visitor pass  for 27th-29th January
